Pursuit

The further she ran
the smaller she felt
Time was squeezing
her like a belt

The sun he whispered
you’ll never outrun
I’ll return as the moon
when the day is done

But forward she pressed
without her rest
In her wake she left
the most glorious mess

For a second she turned
to catch a glimpse
But all she saw were
her left-behind dreams
